The Dogtra Story — A Legacy of Innovation in Dog Training

Since 1979, Dogtra has been at the forefront of electronic‑dog‑training technology. Over the decades, Dogtra has evolved from modest beginnings into a global leader, with more than a million dogs trained using its products.

Origins: From Grooming to Game‑Changing Training Tools

Dogtra began life as HS Corporation, producing dog‑grooming products and assorted training accessories.

• As demand for better training tools grew, the company shifted focus. By the mid‑1980s, HS Corporation had committed itself to developing dedicated dog‑training technology — notably e‑collars.

• In 1986 the first “Generation 1” training collar (the “300” model) was introduced. This model featured a detachable receiver battery and a housing made from glass‑filled nylon.

• In 1987, its first “No Bark” collar debuted (model “190”), combining a vocal‑cord sensor with waterproof build quality.

The Growth Years: Pioneering New Standards (1996–2005)

Between 1996 and 2005, the brand transformed what trainers expected from remote collars:

• Launch of the ST Series with rechargeable Ni‑MH batteries, volume‑dial control, and the Pager vibration feature.

• Introduction of the first rheostat dial providing 127 levels of stimulation on the ST100.

• Introduction of the ST300 beeper collar with an integrated resonance chamber.

• Expansion into remote bird‑launchers with solenoid and safety pin mechanisms.

Modern Era: Expanding the Mission (2006–2024)

From 2006 onward, Dogtra broadened its mission from “World’s Finest E‑Collars” to “Make Every Dog Exceptional.”

• Certification of all products to the IPX9K waterproof and dust‑proof standard.

• Expansion of training collars, bark collars, tracking collars, and other training tools.
